A Day at the Beach and Kayaking

Plummer and Akins Kayaking.

These are some of the Mangroves growing in a mix of salt and fresh water. Monkeys and boa constrictors are very common in these trees--we were lucky enough to see a monkey and I guess you could say that we were lucky enough to not see a boa :)

Jones and Bassett kayaking.

We saw this Capuchin monkey on our kayaking adventure!

Today, we got up around 7:00 and went to the beach! It was fun to finally get to spend a day in the warm weather, the water even felt amazing too. Most people went swimming and a few even tried their hand at surfing. We stayed there from 8 am until 11:30 am, and then came back to the hotel for a quick shower before heading to lunch. We had lunch at the same place as our next activity, which was a mangrove kayak tour. For lunch we ate traditional Costa Rican food again, it was very good and everyone was so friendly. We were in double kayaks and worked our way through canals, where we saw wildlife like birds, iguanas, lizards, crabs, and monkeys. It was hard work to do all that paddling! We have a VERY early morning tomorrow because we have to leave at 5:15 am to head to Guatemala! Adios Costa Rica and Hola Guatemala tomorrow! Next time we post we will be in a new country.

Here are some pictures:

This is Matt and Stacy in their kayak

This is a general idea of where we were in the kayaks

And finally, the sunset over the ocean, as seen from our hotel.
