Canyoning, Ziplining, Humming birds...oh my!

Boat we took across Arenal Lake.

Pictures from Waterfall Repelling. We repelled down rock faces with rushing water and hiked through a flowing stream.

Getting ready to take the plunge.

Bassett going down down down.

Is Jones a bit nervous?

Kern's almost at the bottom.

Scott repelling.

Colt headed down.

Kern again.

The guides stopped the water flow and made us sit in the crack then...well you can see!

And again...

Yep, they got it too.

Yep, again.

Hola again from Costa Rica!!! We FINALLY have internet again so I will try to catch everyone up on the past two days. January 12th we left Arenal and drove to Monteverde to go Canyoning (repelling down waterfalls). The first waterfall was 20 feet long, the second was 160 feet long, the third was 20 feet again, and the fourth for the grand finale was 200 feet long! After going canyoning we had a nice lunch at the place where we ate traditional Costa Rican food. We were also given a DVD with pictures on it, but it won't work in any of the computers we have here :(. Everyone had a blast canyoning and afterwards we drove to our hotel in Monteverde.

It was still raining the next morning on the 13th so we decided not to go to the cloud forest because we wouldn't be able to see much anyway. Instead, we were fortunate enough to not leave the hotel until 10:30 to go zip lining and on the hanging bridges at Monteverde. This meant sleeping in! Before going zip lining we got to go to the Hummingbird observatory, we even got to hold them on our fingers! This time when we went zip lining it was a different style than the first time, more of sitting and watching the scenery and we also got to go on 14 different zip lines and one Tarzan swing. After all of this we got to go up on the hanging bridges in the canopy. After all of the excitement we went back to our hotel to relax and play darts and cards. The wind was so bad at Monteverde that at one point we lost power for about 20 minutes where we were given candles and got to play cards by candlelight.
